Will Johnstone's studio is in the West Highlands of Denver, Colorado. Will paints in traditional and modern techniques using acrylic on canvas.

Will began painting in oils on canvas at the age of fourteen under the tutilage of Fanchon Heath (Burtenshaw), in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At first he painted southwestern landscapes, but he soon moved into modern art, symbolisms and abstractions, somewhat to the dismay of his tutor. He quit painting in oil and started painting in acrylic so that the paint would dry faster and the finished painting could be more quickly rendered.
